Today I showed my teacher what I had draped on the mannequin just to seek approval and make sure his was along the lines of what she had envisaged for me. I feel like when I get stressed, and a deadline is emerging I get too fixated on hitting all the marking criteria and making sure everything I have researched in my sketch book is relevant. I think I get too stressed, and I end up performing below par. It was very helpful to have my teachers advise and to be taken back to the earlier pages of my sketch book where I was having fun and enjoying myself. My work was so much stronger before the deadline was looming and panic set in which made me create a simple, dull design that was terrible.

I have finished my research on the Francis Bacon exhibition I attended. A lot of his work was inspired by Sado masculinity. His toxic relationship was a big influence on his art. Researching and expressing myself and my thoughts on the artwork about protecting our mental health, our energy, being in toxic relationships and everything else made me consider placing my garment on a male model or a non-binary model or someone more gender neutral as men need protection and can be in abusive relationships which was brought to light by the Francis bacon exhibition. I have drawn illustrations very simplistically using continuous line and playing around with drawings and outlines of what I had previously draped on the mannequin on n a male model.

I started to make the bodice of my garment and weaving it together. I would say I was 80% completed. I am starting to think about photo shoot ideas, so I did a brainstorm. I was thinking of using a disposal camera because when you use digital camera or such like it can be traced, tracked, you can be hacked. Whereas if you a disposable or polaroid you have the image there, almost protecting it, reinforcing my theme of protection. I thought of maybe a church as it represents a safe place, or a weapon museum, maybe a field to represent battlefield or a beach to symbolise Dunkirk. It is an open space where you could go into war. I thought I could make a stop motion video of me inflating the condoms more and more so you can see it expanding and seeing my model getting more concerned each time the condom inflates. I feel this could be so nice seeing my garment blow up. In terms of makeup, I thought maybe I could use makeup inspired by what my mums wears to show the mothers protection or using a sweaty face to show the prey perspective and being threatened and feeling panicked. These were my rough ideas.
